HBO’s ‘Spielberg’ Documentary

Over the last week we had a whole bunch of trailers dropping for upcoming or returning shows including, Marvel’s The Punisher, The CW’s lineup of The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Supernatural, and Riverdale to list a couple. All that on top of the movie trailers for Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Tomb Raider, Pitch Perfect 3, Coco, 1922, and Gotti is a whole lot to keep up with. While I’m happy to see the beginning of the network television season and always enjoy first looks at new movies, there’s too much to keep up with, often causing some of the best and most interesting things to be overlooked or missed completely. So while some people have most certainly seen or heard about it, one thing that we recently caught a glimpse of that has me interested is the trailer for HBO’s documentary on the life and career of filmmaker Steven Spielberg.

Take a look:

Through exclusive interviews with actors, family, and the filmmaker himself, this unprecedented documentary pulls back the curtain on the remarkable career of Steven Spielberg.

The two and a half hour documentary is cut together with over 30 hours of exclusive interviews with Spielberg, his family, friends, and colleagues. The list of people that have contributed includes, J.J. Abrams, Christian Bale, Drew Barrymore, Cate Blanchett, Francis Ford Coppola, Daniel Craig, Daniel Day-Lewis, Brian de Palma, Laura Dern, Leonardo DiCaprio, Richard Dreyfuss, Ralph Fiennes, Harrison Ford, David Geffen, Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, Holly Hunter, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Ben Kingsley, Kathleen Kennedy, George Lucas, Liam Neeson, Martin Scorsese, Oprah Winfrey and Robert Zemeckis. If you are a film fan this is certainly  a must watch, so mark your calendars!

Undoubtedly one of the greatest filmmakers ever, the man who from the director’s chair brought us Jaws, Close Encounters, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan. Without even looking at other works he has produced or the young filmmakers he mentored, his place in film history is firmly secured, but he still has more to offer…

Spielberg’s next movie, Post a historical drama starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep is set to release late December this year, and Ready Player One a sci-fi adventure starring Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance, Simon Pegg, and T.J. Miller is slated for March 30th 2018.

Until then Spielberg airs October 7th thanks to HBO Documentary Films.
